Next door is Steven Gwaliasi's Greenstone gallery. Spend a few thoroughly absorbing hours creating your own Greenstone carving (create jewellery for each other). We were both delighted with our own creations. A rare artistic success for us. No experience (or talent) required. Seriously. Steven will guide you through the whole process.
...and of course those glorious West Coast sunsets. The beach is just a short walk from Teichelmanns B&B.
Rimu Lodge
With only four finely detailed rooms, and a maximum of eight guests at any given time, Rimu Lodge, just north of Hokitika on the West Coast offers attention to detail and luxury. Each room faces north, offering spectacular river and mountain views and beautiful sunrises. With separate entrances, fine Egyptian sheets, soft and warm goose-down duvets and pillows, all rooms have en suites , deck access , with one room specially designed for disabled access. Rooms are double glazed and centrally heated for warmth, and in winter enjoy a roaring fire in the guest lounge 's open fireplace.
